WEST METRO. Enjoy creative New American concoctions at this attractive dining room in Newton Highlands. Mains like chile raised short ribs and vegetable fries or crispy duck breast with duck confit sweet potato hash are sure to be a hit, and tempting sides include truffled polenta fried with parmesan dipping sauce and quick sauteed spinach with garlic and lemon. SOUTH END. If you close your eyes, you'll be almost certain that you can see the Eiffel Tower from Aquitaine. WEST METRO. This Boylston Street gem is tucked away in a strip mall, and it boasts a pleasant decor imparting a very French feeling. Start your meal off right by asking the waitress to bring you the lobster bisque or a Belgian endive salad right away. Follow up with the seared duck steak or steak frites and then a sweet and oh-so-smooth chocolate mousse. Beer and wine available by the bottle or glass.

BACK BAY. This sophisticated restaurant offers eclectic French fare and views of the Boston Public Gardens. Representative offerings include butternut squash and lobster bisque, seared black sea bass, and roasted tenderloin of venison. Also available is a fixed menu wherein each course is paired with a complementary vintage. Also highly regarded is Aujourd'hui's Sunday brunch, an impressive affair with carving stations, cheese and seafood displays, and a stunning buffet that features dishes like seafood crêpes, Peking duck, smoked bacon and chocolate waffles.

BEACON HILL. Thanks to mahogany paneling, mosaic-tiled floors, and soft lighting, this hotel bistro is a lovely spot for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The food is just as enticing. Notable menu entrees include braised monkfish, baked clams with artichokes, veal shank with roesti potatoes, and roasted duck breast with rillettes. Be sure to check out the chalkboard for daily chef specialties too. Since meals are served until 11pm, the bistro is a great post-theater or symphony stop. Sunday brunch is also served.
