BRIGHTON. This Brighton area restaurant has become a favorite among locals because of the expertly prepared Thai cuisine it serves. The pad Thai and noodle dishes are winning rave reviews from those Bostonians in the know. And other favored items include the spicy papaya salad and the curry dishes. The decor is very pleasant and cheery with brightly colored artwork lining the walls. Very reasonable prices make it a great value.

BACK BAY. Bangkok Blue offers great lunches, speedy service, and expertly prepared food. This spot is a good choice for quiet conversation, and the dining room is relaxing with large windows that face the street. Free valet parking is an extra bonus, and delivery is available on a limited basis.

FENWAY DISTRICT. For Thai that's virtually unrivaled in Boston, visit Brown Sugar Cafe. The menu is filled with authentic offerings such as steamed mussels, chicken satay, and pad Thai. Vegetarians will also be delighted with the abundance of selections tailored just for them. For the meal's grand finale, order the satisfying ginger ice cream or the winter squash filled with custard.
